Perfumes do not appear in many novels.

Even less are perfumes with specific names.

The word "Perfume" which appears in children tales during the 17-18 centuries is probably because there weren't any perfumes with brand names at that time yet.

Perfumes were only used among few aristocrats, made by perfumers who served them exclusively. It was not yet sold to the public.

"Rebecca" (by Daphne Du Maurier - 1938) is a romantic suspense about a young lady who gets married and starts to live in an immense residence, frightened by the shadow of her husband's ex-wife.

The new bride casually flings on a raincoat to get out in the garden, when she finds a white handkerchief the ex-wife left behind with a red lipstick stain and a strong perfume smell on.

In this scene, the perfume does not have a name, but it emphasizes the woman's ominous control of the palace.

In 20 century's foreign literature, the word "perfume" specific names of perfumes probably appears in many different stories.

Recently, perfume has even helped build a movie character.
